Samsung IT School became a partner of the pre-professional Olympiad for schoolchildren

Samsung IT School is the social and educational project of Samsung Electronics. For the third time, it became a partner of the annual Moscow Pre-Professional Olympiad for schoolchildren («Information Technology» profile of the Engineering and Design direction). The final stage and the awarding of the winners took place in the Children’s Technopark «Altair» at RTU MIREA in Moscow.

The winners and prize-winners included graduates and current students of Samsung IT School: Petr Shamanov, Konstantin Mikhedov, Yaroslav Molodtsov, and Emil Gadzhiev. The Olympiad includes three fields: engineering, technology, and science. It consists of qualifying and final stages. Winners and prize-winners can receive additional points for individual achievements when entering universities.

The Information Technology profile partnered with Samsung IT School makes it possible to recognize gifted high school students who are interested in obtaining higher education in scientific and technological engineering programs. The organizers of the event are the leading universities of the country: RTU MIREA, MISIS, NRU HSE, MIET, PRUE, and Moscow Polytech.

The qualifying stage of the Olympiad was held remotely from December 2021 to February 2022. Participants individually solved problems in computer science and mathematics. Then they united in teams to work on cases.

“Up-to-date, practice-oriented knowledge in programming and mobile development is a key element in the training of young IT specialists. Samsung IT School is a social and educational project, which is being implemented as part of the Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative, is aimed to obtain such knowledge by schoolchildren and students. The Moscow Pre-Professional Olympiad allows talented children not only to get additional points for entering a university but also to prove themselves by solving actual problems of programming and gaining valuable experience. I congratulate the winners of the Olympiad and wish further success to all participants!” said Sergey Pevnev, who is the Vice President of Samsung Electronics Headquarters for the CIS countries.

“For the third year in a row, RTU MIREA has been the venue for the final stage of the Moscow Pre-Professional Olympiad in the Information Technology profile. We are pleased that the infrastructure of the Altair Children’s Technopark of RTU MIREA allows participants to fully demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities in IT. We are confident that the joint work of leading universities in Moscow and industrial partners of the Olympiad allows us to identify talented schoolchildren and attract them to the IT industry,” said RTU MIREA Rector Stanislav Kudzh.

Samsung IT School is a social and educational project that is being implemented as part of the Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative. 9–10 year schoolchildren are the participants of this project. They receive knowledge and practical skills in developing mobile applications in Java for Android. Every year, more than 1,500 high school students receive free education as part of Samsung IT School, which is the federal socio-educational program for the training of future IT specialists. The course is designed for one academic year (132 academic hours): 4 academic hours of group lessons with a teacher per week. Classes are held in the format of additional education. The projects of all graduates participate in the annual federal competition of mobile applications «IT School chooses the strongest!». The graduate certificate and diploma of the winner give students additional points when entering Russian universities.
