Samsung Held Android BootCamp 2022

Samsung Android BootCamp is an annual part of the Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative in Russia. Android BootCamp 2022 was an online training intended for client-server application development. Its program included lectures and project work. The participants developed their own mobile applications with the server part based on the Spring framework.

The BootCamp was held from April 13 to May 30 by Samsung R&D Institute Russia. During the first month, 11 practical lectures about Spring technology were read by the Alexander Nepretimov, the Samsung IT School teacher. The special topic “Adaptation of Android applications for blind users” was presented on the one lecture. It was conducted by Viktor Vikhrov, the developer of the Yandex GO. All lectures were broadcasted on the IT School YouTube channel.

The participants worked on individual projects and then presented them in the final part of the course. 334 people from 43 cities took part in BootCamp. Teachers, students, graduates of Samsung IT School and Samsung IT Academy were among them.

The four best projects were awarded:

1. MotoTreck (Andrei Malyshev, a student of Samsung IT School at MSUT «STANKIN»). This application builds the route and signals about the motorcycle approaching and its position on the map. This reduces the accident rate on the city roads.

2. Get Pet Help (Mikhail Ivantsov, a graduate of the Samsung IT Academy at MIREA) will help to find a reliable person who could look after your pet.

3. Social Assistant (Anastasia Pustygina, a student of Samsung IT School at MSUT «STANKIN»). The application will help to find charitable organizations and simplify the communication with them by the chat.

4. Swapper (Yana Gladkikh, a graduate of Samsung IT School at Voronezh State University and Vladimir Abubakirov, a graduate of Samsung IT School at RUDN University). This service expands the conscious consumption concept and facilitates the things exchange by choosing a suitable proposal for the user.

“Summing up the results of BootCamp 2022, I would like to note that many participants have affected socially important problems and offered interesting solutions. I want to thank everyone, especially teachers who also took part in the competition. The finale turned out to be bright and memorable!” — commented Alexander Nepretimov, the leading lecturer.

The level of prototypes study for many applications is high, given a short time for project development. The BootCamp 2022 is devoted to Spring, that is the most popular framework in the industry. The Samsung IT School once again proved that its focus is helping students to acquire demanded practical skills in the rapidly changing field of mobile development. The program is constantly being improved, and new lectures will become a part of the Samsung IT School textbook.

In 2021, the Samsung Innovation Campus was awarded twice: it became a laureate in the “Education and personnel” nomination of the “Runet Prize 2021” National Award and received first place in the “Leaders of the Future” nomination of the All-Russian competition of the best practices in the socio-humanitarian sphere “Creating the future”.
